Periodicals, even on the web, are (by nature)…well, periodical. Quite acclimated to the age of “push button” publishing, we intend to use this space as a frequent stop-gap between issues. Think of it as more than a soapbox. A place for opinions, to be sure, but also a lair of experimental fiction, exterior announcements (publications, lectures, events, debates, sporting events, you get the drift), and incidental linkages.
Collectively, we’ve got plenty to say. But ours is an age of undigested thought, viral contemplation, rhizomic processes. The Modest Proposal in its periodical form is about wholeness, permanence, and digestion. The Modest Proposal’s blog is equally at home with the fragment, the blurb, and the utterance. As a side project to the side project, it is the repository for those final, rogue thoughts that cloud the brain at the end of the day.
